Rover 600 Vtec (622) GSI SMC
The time has come for me to part with my 600. It's been a fantastic car and I've loved owning it but now I fancy a change. It's a fairly unique car so needs an owner who can appreciate what it is.
It started life as a 1998 618Si with SMC factory kit. With the help of Julian I put in an imported 2.2L Vtec lump from a 1994 Prelude (H22A). The engine is fantastic, makes 197bhp from the factory and revs to 8k - it's great fun.
So here is the good list of things I fitted:
- Full Ti interior
- ABS
- Ti front brakes (red) with black diamond discs
- All round electric windows
- Electric mirrors
- Cruise control
- Air con (not working)
- Omni custom made coil overs (£1700 when new)
- HIDs
- Stainless manifold, full exhuast and de cat, cat fitted atm (£850)
- Induction kit taking air from the wing
- Braided brake lines
- LSD gearbox (£200)
- Chipped ECU, no speed limiter and Vtec @ 5k rpm now
- SMC spoiler and side skirts
- Momo alloys, 4 on car and 2 spare, fitted 4 part worn Falkens so good meat
- Short shifter
- Blue lit dash board
- Clear side repeaters
- Auto gauges oil pressure, oil temp and air fuel (oil pressure not working - gauge dead)
- Front strut brace
- Laguna splitter
- Meshed grille
I'm sure there is more but it's hard to remember it all!
Right bad bits:
- Not MOT, has been SORN since July
- Needs new CV boot (I have that)
- Handbrake cable needs replacing n/s, it has stretched
- All discs need a clean up, probably a good drive will sort them
- Rust, there is some nasty metal work around the n/s rear arch - it won't fail an MOT but if you want to get her back to formed glory it needs doing
Hear are some pictures of her in her prime - she has aged a lot since then so please don't expect it to look exactly like this!

More photos on request.
I also have LOADS of 600 parts floating around, these could go with the car for a little extra.
Now what I'm hoping is someone will take the car whole and get as much enjoyment from it as I did, however I know that might not happen. If it doesn't I will break the car.
If you are interested in part if I break the car please PM me and don't clog the thread with requests. I'll make sure those people get first dibs.
Mileage wise the whole car is ~ 150,000 I think, but the engine is only about 90,000.
I'm look for offers around £700, but any serious offer will be considered.
If you need any more information please let me know.
Thanks,
Jynx

its a sad day james , I remember building this, and you were spot on in making sure I had all the parts ready to build it. Shame to see her go but well who ever gets it is going to be happy I am sure , and if it gets broken 1st hmm you know where I am

Re: Rover 600 Vtec (622) GSI SMC
I know I could get more money breaking it, but I would love to see it stay together and I don't have the time to break it. Fingers crossed it goes to someone who will fix it

Re: Rover 600 Vtec (622) GSI SMC
Good question!
Someone won it, but they haven't made a move to come and get it yet and aren't really responding to emails. Very frustrating!
I think I'm going to have to go down the non paying buying route
