Rover 216 (Honda) Coupe - spares/repair

Post by Coupe100 »

Hey guys.

Here I have for sale my BRG 216 Coupe for spares/repair. Ideally I would break this and sell it for parts, but I need the space and quick.

Sadly, the cam belt snapped the other month and I don't have the time to fix it with trying to get my Mini back on the road so I bought another run around for now. I have no idea if there was any piston/valve contact - all I can say is that I didn't hear anything but I know as well as anyone that that means nothing.

The car has 117,500 miles on it, is still taxed to the end of the month and has MOT till September.

Interior is in good condition, and is the standard non-leather Coupe interior. The car is fitted with what I believe are GMAX springs (I haven't actually bothered looking closely to see what they are), all the suspension seems to be in good order with no knocks etc.... It also has a set of very good condition MG 17" straights with almost new (but admittedly budget) tyres on, and is also fitted with a Mongoose exhaust. The engine ran sweet as a nut prior to the cam belt snapping, ran very strongly for a single cam D-Series with no water or oil leaks or loss at all.

The bodywork is generally solid, but there is a bit of the usual rust creeping through in the usual places (I have tried to capture this in the photo's). There are two patches at the rear end of the sills which have been previously repaired - they are solid but the repairs aren't to a high standard sadly.

Also included with the car will be a jap rear plinth, a cold air induction kit (was far too noisy and whistly for my liking so I took it off and put the standard air box back on), and a spare grille which someone has attempted to mesh and paint in the past.

Anyway, thats enough waffle - here's some photo's:

The car would be idea for a project for someone, or to break and sell for parts if you have the time. At this stage, I'm not really interested in selling bits off separate as I need the whole thing gone and quickly if possible.

Obviously any interested parties will need some way of getting the vehicle home as it isn't drivable - if it is fairly local, I could arrange delivery but there would be a cost involved with that.

I'm looking for around £300 for it - I am open to reasonable offers however - as I say, I do need this gone ASAP.

PM me if you're interested.

IIRC they are intereference Dan, but you can quote Mark Eley as saying that 99% of the time it's bang on a new belt and bob's your mother's brother.

You will notice that I said I heard no contact when the belt went, so there most likely will not be any damage to the internals, but I haven't the room, time or willing to sort it. I have another car anyway now so I just want this gone.

Just whack a belt on it - I will be gobsmacked if there is any damage

Only point is I always do the water pump if there is any doubt at all but these are dirt cheap. Normally I can do a SOHC cambelt and waterpump on the side of the road for about £20-£25 ( I got a job lot of water pumps from Halfords for £4.99 each :) )and drive it away in less than 90 mins

OK, last time - I haven't got time to be arsing around with this. Yes, I know its fixable. No I haven't got time - I work too much, I've got too much to do with trying to get my Mini back on the road and I have a car to drive day to day.

I just want to sell this, I don't want to fix it.

Thanks.

Ok, guys, last reduction here now.

Battery went flat (and was then charged) and now the fob won't deactivate the alarm or open the doors and the drivers door lock (via the key) appears to have seized due to lack of use. Entry to the car is strictly via the passenger door/boot at present.

I am offering this at £150 to the first person to come and take it away. There's more to be made in bits on this, but I haven't the room to strip it.

Potentially, but I'd need a bit extra as I'd have to pay to borrow the trailer/a-frame and tow vehicle.

Ok cool, that wouldn't be a problem.

How far do you live from work? I think my house mate has a tow rope.

I'm only 8 miles or so from work bud. Live in Leyland near the Black Bull just off Dunkirk Lane.
