Android background apps???
Afternoon all. Any Android guru's here?
I've had my HTC One X for about 4 months now and it's a great phone.
The only thing I HATE is the social networking side of it. When I first switched it on it tried to Sync everything. I do have a facebook account because I like to play the poker, but I couldn't care less what someone had for breakfast or whether they just stepped in a puddle or not....
I've disabled all the cr@p like twitter, flikr and friend stream, but friend stream keeps running. It shows up in my task manager, even though I've disabled it.
The only Sync's I have are email and weather. I have unticked all facebook notifications and set the refresh to never, yet if I leave my phone for 5 mins Friend Stream appears back in my task manager.
What's causing this? I've read in to Rooting the phone so I can remove the standard apps. Is this the best option?

Re: Android background apps???
Root it get rid of all the sense crap IMHO. If you like the stock look try and find a stock odexed rom . HTC are not known for their amazing battery life. I read a statement on the xda forum recently that they prefer style than battery. For that I won't be buying one next contract end lol

Re: Android background apps???
Its part of Sense and may well be required by the custom Sense messaging app and whatnot. Some of these things have interdependencies, so rooting and removing one thing can break another. Its a common complaint on XDA that people remove things without realising that doing so breaks half the features.

I would be tempeted to try that out if it was my phone as it states 95percent of sense is gone and it is pretty close to an aosp ROM. Personally have a 4.1jellybean aokp ROM on my s2 at the moment which I love to bits. Loads of customised stuff on it and all the functions work too

Re: Android background apps???
Hard as it is to accept not everyone wants a AOSP look or feel. XDA is full of people who put much scorn on Sense and TouchWiz, because they say its not stock Android, but not everyone thinks that Googles idea of a launcher/interface is the right one.
