( a WeThePeople - Phoenix )

Stripped it completely down to bare metal with nitromors and a paint stripping wheel on a mains powered drill

The rim on the back wheel was donald ducked so i purchased an identical one but not chrome this time, in aluminium finish as it was cheaper and the chrome will only flake off in years to come anyway

modified my 12 year old trusty spoke key (bmx spokes are so close together it is murder to get a full size spoke key in)

With that done it was time to pick out a colour, my son adores the monster energy colour and after many hours of searching on the net the closest to it i could find was kawasaki green, being a novice spray painter of car parts with rattle cans it was now time to try and learn how to spray with a gun (kinda baptism with fire way of learning but i was pretty confident and studied up loads on the net)
Test colour on forza 4 of what i was hoping to achieve:-

Its basically a green with gold so went and bought the paint:-

And purchased gold pearl on ebay to add to the lacquer to make it more than just green (hopefully wont be too many this colour out there--IF ANY)
Spray painting commenced (picture of first attempt with shitty old gun-hence why i bought new)

Bought A better spray gun, ebay to the rescue again, not a top of the range jobby but was confident again of this guns abilities after asking advice from others.

Must have sat in primer for about three weeks in the house while i searched for a new gun then I went for the colour :-

I was quite impressed with how flat and glossy the 1k colour i bought came out, flatted a few areas which had run with some 1200grit wet and dry and let it sit for about three days to dry out

Now time for the bit i was dreading doing the lacquer

Really difficult to capture the gold pearl with a camera as inside out of the sun it just looks like the green is lighter, and outside the glossyness just reflects the light away, the two best pictures i could take :-

It does really really pop in the daylight, actually now my favourite colour ever
Started building it another two days later, new parts included :-
Pedals
chain (gold)
bars
brakes
brake cable
grips
Gone with a white to keep it brighter than putting all black parts on.

Fitted all the parts except the handlebars as they didnt arrive until today
Finished bike :-

Handlebars are massive, they feel double the size of what mine were when I bmxed!!
Not far off the size of my passage doorframe!

Sat next to one of my bikes before it goes off for santa to bring on christmas day

Thanks for looking i am very pleased with the end result and hope he takes up in bmxing where i left off (stopped when he was born the started mtbing about three years ago)
Chris
