mg zr 160

Post by Nath86 »

I have an mg zr 160 mk1 on an 02 reg, has 7 months mot 6 months tax, body work is tidy apart from a small scrape on drivers arch, its just had a full service including fuel filter, oil change, rad change and new oat coolant, plugs leads etc. It runs superb and drives faultless, the only point to mention is it has no history (the old owner lost it) apparently hence why all of the above was done! And its on 143k

I know they aren't fetching big money but I just can't guide a price on her :(
Its a lovely little car and everything works as it should, its very nippy and not heavy on fuel, just thinking of selling as a 3 Dr simply isn't practical with 3 kids

Forgot to mention its black

Mk2's are ugly tho (IMO btw) there is nothing wrong with it, it all feels tight like a low mileage car, the gearbox / clutch is probably the best i have felt in any of the mgr's I have owned hence why I bought it. Its just sacrilege they are not worth much, I may just struggle and use it now for a few months and whack it on eBay. I did buy it on a whim but I think Iv done well in getting it back to its best

I'd agree with £500ish,

It's a high insurance group car, high fuel consumption, high mileage, no history.

They just don't hold their money with these things against them.

Bonus is, it's good to go with T&T.

People want the mk2 really, They are newer and more modern looking. These also have lost money which has a knock on effect to the mk1.

The other off putting item is timing belt, it needs one doing at that mileage and these aren't so DIY friendly being a 160.

All food for thought, I'd start your pricing at £750 see who bites.

Mk2's arent ugly. As you said its all opinions. I prefer the MK2 to the MK1 generally. Some people are the other way around.

Enthusiasts dont want to pay too much for MG's let alone a neutral. I wouldnt buy one if they werent cheap lol Plus its January, nobody is spending anything at the minute. It doesnt matter if it FEELS awsome to drive. Most people just look at the figures and/or evidence.

Stick it up for £800 and see if you can get £600 for it i guess.
