Post by rpatten »

Typical as soon as I've got the money for the ebay alloy rad, its not on there. Anyone got one or know the guys details so I can contact him?
Or is there anything bigger out there I can buy up quick?

What vehicle it for.

You say "bigger" but in what way height, width, depth.

Bigger does not always mean more efficient ; )

If you want mega efficiency then and GOT, SG or S will work well but the look different to a conventional LH core.

tbh i dont rate alloy rads one bit .

they always seem to weap or leak . perhaps ive just had bad experiances . but i had 3 alloy rads from radtec and they all leaked after about 3 months on the end tanks . they replaced with out any arguing but i dont expect a 400 pound alloy rad to last 3 months or so i went to the roversport radiator and never looked back .

Alloy is a pain to repair at times and often requires either a recore or replacement copper however can normally be repaired relatively easily

Been buying from the wrong people then!!
I've never had an alloy rad leak - even some of the cheap Chinese ones I've used.
Certainly never had issues with our Rover Radiators:

People will think that rad is expensive Grant but actually being in the radiator / heat exchanger trade I know what the cost of the cores are and a "proper" alloy core don't come cheap so your unit not a bad price at all in comparison.

If people think it's expensive then fair enough... They don't have to buy it ;)
Buy cheap, buy twice and all that

not gunna lye grant every rad ive seen from you has weaped on the end tanks or leaked in some fashion. and perhaps i was looking at your "cheap" ones but the welding was absolutely shocking .

which is why i used radtec in the first place instead of your self

radtec are supposed to be one of the best suppliers out their

here was my radtec one at 310 plus the vat .

WTF?
You've seen loads of mine and they all leaked? Why didn't you make us aware of this?
I have NEVER seen a single one of our radiators leak.
All of our British made radiators are pressure tested before despatch and our cores are much higher quality than Radtec.

I'm not gunna lye (SP), I think you are full of it.

it was 2-3 years ago. i knew 3 people with your rads all that leaked after a while and it wasnt my issue to take up ...... hence why i didnt buy from you and went for a radtec.

im sure they have improved greatly and as i said i prob just had logger luck with alloy rads . but ill be sticking with the copper roversport ones . much easyer to fix and thicker and better cooling anyay
